The Revolution in Rojava is bleeding to death.
The situation is dire. According to the International Brigades 60% of fatalities are due to individuals bleeding out. These deaths are mostly preventable with simple to use and affordable trauma kits used by militaries around the world. Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has published its monthly (July 2016) report on illegal attacks on medics and civil defense personnel by the conflict parties in Syria. The report documented the killing of 81 medics and civil defense personnel in the first half of 2016 including 11 who were killed this June alone. The targeting medics has forced them far from the front lines in the battle against ISIS and other enemies of the revolution; thus injured YPG/YPJ fighters, civilians and refugees fleeing ISIS controlled areas must be carried great distances to receive medical care.
The International embargo on Rojava has made the availability of such life-saving supplies difficult to obtain. This summer Rojava Solidarity NYC worked with Swiss comrades and the Basel Kurdish Center to make 500 trauma kits for Rojava. We saved money by packing the kits ourselves and buying in bulk. Each kit contained: Celox (a clotting agent), gauze, liquid sutures, seam rippers, medical tape, gloves, antiseptics and a solidarity messages from Kurdish children in Switzerland and comrades from the US. Life-saving instructions in Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish and English were printed on each pouch.
Now we wish to provide enough trauma packs to Rojava that there not need be a single preventable death from a sniper’s bullet or a piece of shrapnel from an ISIS IED.
1 Trauma Pack costs $8.00
10 Trauma Packs for $80.00 and include your personal solidarity message to be put in each pack.
